Where's the Fish Information?
| Read Other Articles |

Some readers have emailed us, complaining that an aquarium web site that claims to be informative as well as for-profit, should provide more information about aquarium fish and invertebrates.

We somewhat disagree, and for good reason. There are many aquarium-related web sites, both personal and commercial, that DO concentrate on information about aquarium livestock. We list some of the best on our favorite links pages. These sites do a great job, are constantly up-dated, and many feature personal observations and notes that will be of great benefit to aquarists.

We also feel that there is a lot of conflicting (and downright bad) information on the web about how to keep fish, and aquarium equipment. This is especially true of commercial web sites (we won't name names) that provide information which is designed to sell products, rather than benefit anyone, and in many cases, can hurt new hobbyists who are just getting started and are easily misled. There are also very few web sites that provide our unique inside look at the aquarium trade and industry.

These were the original reasons we created this web site (our online store was added later) in 1998. We wanted to provide a source of information and a public forum which were based on science and logic, instead of greed and ignorance. We have always concentrated on trying to provide good information about aquariums and aquarium equipment which is not profit-motivated, in an effort to promote success and good aquarium management for the hobbyist, as well as responsible aquarium industry practices. We will continue to do so in the future.

We do have many many years of experience with hundreds of varieties of both freshwater and marine fish and invertebrates, and we would love nothing more than to share that knowledge in the form of new articles and FAQs. Eventually, we intend to get around to writing more about the fish and other critters we love so much, but there's so much to write and so little time. Until we can find the time, the particular niche we've chosen has to take priority, and we do hope that all of our readers will benefit from what we have to say. Thank you.

We also offer these other resources!
We would like to point out that we are one of the few aquarium-related web sites, and THE ONLY COMMERCIAL aquarium-related web site, that invites AND ANSWERS any or all email inquiries and questions from hobbyists that need help with their aquariums or fish.

Whenever we can, we update our Frequent Aquarium Questions page with many of these questions and our answers. We are also developing a new FAQ database on which visitors can automatically post their own questions, which will be displayed with our answers. This will eventually replace our out-dated FAQs page. We also offer excellent forums, and many other informational resources for hobbyists.
