First and foremost, we are dedicated to educating aquarium hobbyists and promoting responsible and environmentally-sound practices within all sectors of the aquarium industry. Naturally, we are also in the business of selling discount aquarium equipment and supplies online. Our emphasis in operating our online aquarium supply store is to provide the highest-quality aquarium supplies available at the lowest-possible prices with fast, excellent service. We take our responsibilities to our customers very seriously. To that end, we sell with integrity and ethics and also answer questions and provide extensive product support via email to all of our customers. Our offices are located in Evanston, Illinois.
Our warehouses and distribution centers are located in Illinois, Florida, Pennsylvania, California and Minnesota. Sorry fellow Chicagoans and Illinoisans, but we do not have a walk-in retail location and we do not operate a cash and carry business. All orders must be placed online or over the phone and will be shipped from one or more of our warehouses or distribution centers.

Aquariumpros.com was launched in 1998 primarily as an informational and interactive web site for aquarium hobbyists and aquarium industry professionals. Our intent was and still is to provide a professional source for information in order to combat all of the misleading and incorrect aquarium information that may be found on the Internet. Back then, our online store was small, with only a few product lines. Our site has gone through several major makeovers since, as we learned more about web design, with improvements such as no frames, faster-loading pages, more content and a cool new look. We are constantly up-grading, improving and re-designing our web site.

The online store was expanded in 2000 in order to pay for the rising costs associated with operating and maintaining the web site. When we first started out, Internet search engines were mostly free for web site owners. Slowly but surely, all of the search engines and web directories started charging for the privilege of being listed in their directories. Then came pay-per-click and pay-per-impression services that began contracting with the search engines so that now, only paid-listings appear on the first two pages of any search engine results. Who says the Internet is free? Free for whom? In 2000 we were faced with a decision: Either shut down the web site or come up with a way to pay for it, and so the online store was expanded. As The Aquarium Professionals Group was already well-known to many manufacturers as custom aquarium designers and a major retailer of aquariums and equipment, most of the manufacturers were eager to supply product to an online store that would not just sell, but would also support their products. This reduced the number of customer inquiries the manufacturers had to handle. Through the the efforts of our staff and some financial-backing, we have managed to grow from only 250 stocked products to a stocked-inventory of more than 5000 products about 5% of which are drop-shipped for us daily by several manufacturers and distributors.

Our pledges to our visitors and customers are simple. 
We will not sell or give out any customer contact information, and we maintain a strict privacy policy. We do not send lots of junk email to our customers and we operate a true opt-in email list program that may be easily cancelled at any time. We operate with the highest ethical standards at all times. While we do offer some of the lowest prices available on most products, we will never claim to have the lowest prices on the Internet. However, we do promise to provide the best possible customer service, the most accurate information and advice, and support via email to all aquarium owners everywhere who need help with their aquariums. Because we make good on these promises each and every day, our loyal customers now number in the tens of thousands. Our customers already know that providing great service and excellent information takes time and time costs money. They're willing to pay a little more for the ethical honest treatment they receive when they spend their money with us.
