  • We have an apple snail that has laid 3 different cluster of eggs. What can we do to make sure the eggs hatch and can we move them to another tank?

Since you have the luxury of 3 different egg clusters, you can try moving one cluster to a seperate tank with a sponge filter. Chances are not all the eggs will hatch. As far as the other 2 clusters, I would top off the tank and make sure the eggs are always submerged in water.

  • I believe that one of my clown loaches is pregnant. I would like to know how to care for babies and are clown loaches livebearing fish?

Clown loaches lay eggs. The only way to maximize survival rate would be to seperate the mother from other fish in the tank. The eggs will not survive predation once they are hatched.

  • When my male beta made a bubble nest I added the female. The female became really aggressive and ripped off a good portion of the males fins. Is she too aggressive to breed?

The females are not normally this tempermental. You have the rare female that is.

  • I bought a guppy that was pregnant and she had her fry. Is the color of the female guppy going to be the color of the guppy fry?

No, not necessarily. Hybridization is common among guppies.

  • Our parrot fish have laid eggs. Some have turned white. How long does it take for the eggs to hatch and what should we do in the interim?

You'll need to remove the white eggs which are fungus infected before it spreads to the other eggs. A turkey baster is good for this job. The eggs should hatch in about 3 days.

  • How long are zebra danios pregnant?

Eggs are deposited on the substrate fairly soon after the female is exhibiting and will hatch after about a day at 27 C.

If you plan on growing out your mollies you will need at least a 30 gallon.

  • I have 4 mollys and 1 barb, and the female had 11 fry. i have them in a breeder net and they have been there for about a month now, i would like to know when it is safe for me to let them into the tank.

When livebearers give birth and the fry are seperated from the community fish (via a breeder net, or seperate fishtank) a good rule of thumb for when it is safe to add the fry back to the tank is when they are approx. 1/4 the size of the adult fish.
