  • I have a 150 gal freshwater tank with only 5 aftrican cichlids . i'm running a rainbow mechanical, uv, and sand filter on the tank. I have a power head for better circulation. My fish seem to be gasping at the top a lot. Is there a better way to infuse o2 into the water?

Hi Tony, Your problem may not be low o2. Test your water for Ammonia, and Nitrites. Most gas exchange happens on the surface of the water. As long as there are slight ripples at the top it should be ok.

Hi Jason, Although Tufa is safe a better choice is base rock or live rock.
