Hi Glenn,
Never use copper with inverts. Depending on the type of copper you used some may have been absorbed by your rock and is now leaching back out into your system. Even small traces are lethal to inverts.

Do I need to remove the carbon while using salt to cure Ich?
HI Eileen,
If your just using salt to cure the ich carbon will not remove it. It will remove medications.

I just bought 2 bangaai cardinals, and they are in the quarantine process. One bangaai is not eating. I noticed a long thin white string hanging from the bottom of this fish. Is this a gastrointestinal disease, and if so how can I treat it?
Hi David,
Try adding Garlic Extract by Kent to promote feeding. They may just nbe malnourished from their journey to your tank. Medicated foods are also an option, but you must be sure what the fish have. That requires microscopic examination of their waste.

I have a saltwater tank that a has a spotted Grouper and a Niger Trigger in it both have a cloudy haze over the eye and the trigger seems to be totally blind from this. Is this Cureable, and will my fish ever be able to see again?
Hi Cody,
Try quarrantining the fish first. It sounds like a bacterial infection. Antibiotics can usually cure cases that are not too severe with a total recovery for the fish.

I have a dragonfish thats not eating. We've changed his hiding area and that's when he quit eating. We've tried other foods with him before but he will only eat shrimp pellets.
Hi Justin,
Try a 50% water change. You can also try live foods like ghost shrimp or tubifex worms. These are close to his natural prey in the wild.

I have 4 young cichlids They have no appearance of being sick, they eat and act fine but they have not regained their color after the move from the store.
Hi Justin,
Try feeding your fish frozen foods. Flake and pellet foods tend to lose their vitamins faster. Also Cichlids depending on type will go thru color changes.

My betta has developed a white mask from one eye to the other. He doesn't act sick, and water tests are in the normal range. Any ideas?
Hi Martha,
Your betta may have a bacterial infection. Use of antibiotics available at your local retail store should help, or if you don't like to medicate your fish try using a little aquarium salt in the water.

I recently fed some feeder guppies to my jewel chiclid. the fish have developed white spots(ich)and some brown hairy growth.
Feeding your fish live feeders that have not been quarantined for a couple of weeks may bring in unwanted diseases. Feeder fish are often overcrowded, and stressed which may cause them to be disease carriers. Feed frozen feeders if you can.

My bala shark has been becoming darker in color. Is this some kind of disease?
Hi Brooke,
Dark color can be an indicator of stress. If the fish is eating, and water quality is good make sure another fish isn't picking on him and that he has plenty of places to hide.

I've got a 75 gallon tank with assorted gouramis, balas and irridescent sharks. i recently added 4 green tiger barbs. my balas and irids appear to be getting ich. what could be the cause?
Hi Duane,
Ich is usually present in all tanks, even healthy ones. It only manifests itself when fish are stressed. Your Bala's and Irrids are being stressed by the new additions.
