  • Why are my oscars picking up rocks in thier mouths, moving them to the other side of the tank, and spitting them out?

This is normal behavior for most cichlids.

  • I have a 75 gallon tank with 2 small Jack Dempseys. What can I add to my tank that would not promote aggression and add color?

With this set-up you could safely add a number of other Cichlids which are colorfull and generally peacefull to each other. Of coarse the number and size of fish would depend on your filtration type.

  • I recently came back from vacation to find my black molly dead and half eaten. Why would my other fish eat the molly?

Most fish will consume the dead remains of fish in your system. This may seem disgusting but in all actuality is helping your systems health. Rather than the fish rotting away in your tank is is effectively being disposed of naturally.

  • I have a 25 gallon community freshwater tank. I recently added 2 platys, and 3 barb species. The barbs tend to harass the platys constantly, is this normal? And if so what is a suitable tank mate for the barbs?

Yes this is common for the barb species, they tend to be a little aggressive towards their smaller, non barb, tank mates. One good match for barbs (especially tiger barbs) are clown loaches.

  • Can you acclimate regular freshwater fish other than mollies and some brackish fish to saltwater?

  • I recently discovered that we had a baby snail. I am worried that our algae eater ate the remainder of them. Is this possible?

    Yes.

  • Do female betta fish fight for alpha female rank?

Not usually. With a male present, you may encounter this behavior with multiple females.

  • Does my Dragon Goby have to be kept in brackish water? Will it be safe with African Cichlids?

It can survive in pure freshwater. I would not keep it with African Cichilds.

  • I have a 10" arowana. It was attacked by the crayfish in the tank. It is missing scales and is laying on the bottom. Do you think he will make it?

If the arowana was healthy prior to the attack, he should make it. Make sure there is nothing else in the tank that could show aggression towards him in this stressed state.
