Frequent Aquarium Questions

• I am interested in building a 40 gallon glass tank. I already have 6mm thick glass at home. Do I need to buy thicker glass?

• Tried datebase but couldn't think of right term to find info. Thinking of setting two acrylic tanks in cascade set-up. Can one slightly tilted sit on corner of another? Will put support in bottom tank under corner of top tank. Want to use estimated size 24x24x12 and 15x15x12. Or should top one be supported completely separate from bottom one?

  Assuming that the tank is about 3" long and less than 2" high, you should be fine with 6mm thick glass.

  Yes if the tank was originally sold as an aquarium tank. Most reptiles are kept in "reptile tanks" which have thinner glass and are not built to hold gallons of water.

  Hi Luke, A good rule is an inch of fish per gallon of water not including the tail, but with larger fish this rule may not be accurate. I would recommend at least a 75 gal.
