Hello I am new to the club!
Although, I just started a new aquarium I am a 20 years into aquariums. I have jusy started a 30 gallon tank using the dupla heating cables, undergravel heating. I been reading alot about it and purchase the cables from driftwood in FL. I used the substrate gravel to cover the cables and then 2-3 inches of gravel. Is any body else here using this method??

Hi and welcome Seahorse.
I have also done some reading on the use of heating cables but due to availabilty issues here in New Zealand, I haven't tried them myself.
I would believe they would promote excelent growth combined with substrate fertilization and perhaps the use of a plant substrate such as flourite.
I have been told that similar results can be achived with the use of peat plates under the gravel (bacterial respiration from the decomposition produces heat), but I imagine the cables would give more consistent resuts.
My one concern for areas with warm summers would be the contribution of the cables to overheating at this time. I realise that their heat output is small but every contribution is important. I guess you can simply turn them off if you need to.
Please let us know what sort of results you get. I am always interested in the actual experiences of customers with this sort of equipment.
Good luck with the new tank.
PS. I deleted your double post in the freshwater forum to prevent double ups. I hope you don't mind.
Most people look at all of the different forums so you should get the same number of replies.
