hello

[Darks Bane]

i just joined and i was wondering if i could make my 15g. tank any better. this is what i have:

4 serpae tetras
4 lemon tetras
2 blackskirts
2 gold neons
4 pristella tetras

5 medium size plants
and a rock thingy with plants sticking out of it.

10 or 15 gallon tanks are the hardest to keep because of the small water volume. More water means anything that happens has less effect. That being said, I would suggest reading and more reading and post questions on the forum, then read some more.

If you haven't found them yet, Aquarium Pros have written a series of articles to help answer many questions. http://www.aquariumpros.com/articles/ The internet is a good source of info. Like all internet info, check out the source before you fully believe something. I, personally am more likely to believe Aquarium Pros (Dave has a degree in this field) or http://www.peteducation.com/ (by two veteranians) or http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ (Bob Fenner has degrees as well) than a website maintained by someone with experience only. Experience is great and very helpful but what works for one (especially if it goes against most of the recommendations you see) may not work for you unless you want to try some cutting edge methods (that's the way new methods are developed)

You are at or over the recommended fish inches in your 15 gallon (the rule of thumb is one inch of fish per gallon of water) so I wouldn't add any more fish. If you had the room, I would recommend adding a clean up crew (maybe a few cories). Something to consider if you get a bigger tank (don't we all want a bigger tank).
