I received a 55 galon all glass tank that i'm planning to use as a "salt only fish" aquarium as a present and my question is is the MAGNUM 350 filter good for a salt water tank?

I use a Magnum 350 filter for my fresh water tank. I am very happy with it. The 350 should be fine for a salt water tank, I THINK. You can call up your Local pet store and ask.

The 350 is rated for aquariums up to 55 gallons so you should be fine there. However I would purchase some live rock. Live rock has great filtration capabilites and I dont think any saltwater tank should be without it :)

True. Also make sure you have a protein skimmer for your aquarium. It will remove the protein (bubbles and gunk) from the aquarium. Live rock is a great thing to add to the tank.
