I have a cat and no matter how hard I try I cannot keep the cat hair from getting into my tank. The tank is pretty well covered, the only openings to the environment being the filter housing. The cat enjoys sitting by the aquarium, but never gets by the backside where the filter is located.

My main questions are, will the cat hair harm the health of my fish? Will it change the water chemistry? Is there anybody out there who has had the same problem?

Thanks,

Matthew

PS: I also posted a question in the Betta Booth a couple of days ago which I guess no one has noticed yet.

PSS: About ten minutes ago, I saw a see-through fry swimming around in the tank- looks like my danios had babies (guess the fat one wasn't constipated after all).

I can definately understand your problem with cat hair. I have a cat also and you are right no matter how hard you try to keep it out of the tank it seems to somehow get in there anyway. I am just speaking from my experience here but i have never had it cause any problem at all. However I did not like to see it in there anyway so I added a overflow filter and a sump tank ad it does a great job of taking out the hair before it can sink. I would just keep the gravel vacumed regulary, I do it twice a month but everyone has their own preferences and the size of the tank and qty of fish makes a differnece here also. I hope this helps out and let us know if you have any more questions.
