I have two fresh water tanks that I moved home for the summer, everingthing was fine until a couple weeks ago when a heat wave hit N. CA, now I have ph of 8.2 in both tanks. The 20g tank has a red eared slider and some guppies with airstone and aquaclear 150 w/ sponge and charcol. The other tank, 10g, has neons, danios, and african frogs with an 8" bubble wand, aquaclear mini w/ sponge and charcol and powerhead filter attached to undergravel gravel filter. I've done 3 water changes in 2 weeks. Each time 50% treated with aquasafe & easybalance vacuming the gravel. The day after each change the PH is back to 8.2. Untreated water from my tap is about 7.3. Both tanks have just gravel and rocks, no ceramics, decorations or plants. Should I worry about the water being too alkaline and whats the best method to lower PH when water changes aren't working?
Thanks
