I have a 90gal. African Cichlid tank that has been running for 3 months. It occupies 25 of the little heathens. Everything has been great up til a week ago. The water became cloudy and has a green tint to it. PH/Nitrite/Ammonia/Nitrate are all fine. No dead fish. I have been doing 10-25% weekly water changes. The tank is not near any sunlight and the lighting is on 13 hours a day. Standard 40 watt bulb. Can someone please help me?

I had that problem a few months after I set up my 45 gal. It is a standard algae bloom. You can try leaving the lights off longer (they really only need to be on about 10-11 hours a day). You can also try getting some bunch plants to put in your tank. These plants will use up the nutrients that are causing the algae. Also have you tested for phosphates? Plants love those. I hope this post isn't too late as I have just discovered this site.

Try a few algae eaters. Also, I wouldn't put plants in your tank. If your fish are anything like central american cichlids those plants will be floating around after a day.
