I asked it in the beginner forum, and I got a couple of answer, but it was mostly about marine fish. So I thought I would post it here.
Has anyone bought from online livestock dealers? Did you have a good experience? Where did you buy from?
I also mentioned in the post that I was hoping to get some kuhli loaches, and was welcoming any comments on the species from people who have kept them. I would like to keep about 4 of them.
Thanks,
M

I have bought many angelfish on line through Aquabid and been happy with all but a couple of transactions. Thjese are people usually that are breeders and are trying to make their hobby pay for itself or maybe a little more, some of them are in it for a business full time but most of the people that I have had business have been great people.
Kuhli loaches are a fun fish to watch. They do not require much but the one thing that they do need os a place ot hide in. I have had several the used to go down the air lift tube of undergravel filters. That kind of dates me doesn't it? One way to provide a hiding place would be to take a small bottle that has a smaller neck and bury it on a diangle (/) with the opening above the gravel so that they can get into it and not be bothered by other fish.

I guess the whole thing I am worried about with buying fish from AquaBid is getting dead fish. Do a lot of the people guarantee there shipments?
That and getting ripped off I guess....

On Aquabid there is a wey to check on how many transactions a person has had and what the other people thought of that tranaction. If there are a lot of bad words about a person then I would not deal with them. If however they have almost all good words and a lot of them then they should be safe to deal with. This feedback works both ways because some buyers are not satisfied with anything and will give bad feedback on everything.
You can also ask the buyer a question and if they reply possitively you can determing whether or not you want to bid on anything that they have to offer.
