Can anyone out there shed some light on the title/type of my new goldfish ?.
I recently bought it from a local store, from a tank of mixed FANTAILED goldfish.
It is about 2" long, orange black silver/white mixed markings. Round bodied but here is the odd thing.....in all the books I,ve read, fantail goldfish have double tails, with either 4 distinct fins or the top 2 fins joined at the top edge. This fish has ONE normal top fin and TWO bottom fins, making his tail shape like an upside down Y.
Does this fin type have a name ? and is this a common fin style ?.
thanks for your help

The goldfish that you saw did it look like all the other fish inside the tank of fantails. Cause it might be a ryukin or a oranda. But it can also be just another fantail with a different tail finnage.

Thank you for your reply..........the fish was pretty much identicle to the others in the tank, the only difference being the various differences in colour. No clear breed differences or fin types.I only noticed the fin shape when I let it out into my tank ( not very observant of me hu?).
But don,t remember seeing any other fish in the tank with three tails.
