I have a fairly new reef aquarium and things have been going great until recently. The past few days I have noticed masses of very small bubbles on my rock...substrate ....and now the glass. Under these bubbles is what appears to be a red slime algae that brushes away with a fingertip. And returns the very next day only multiplied. Can you help ? My phosphates are.02 and nitrates are 20.Water temp is at 76-80 and all corals and fish are doing well. Protien skimmer is working fine and cleaned daily.
Hi, The bubbles are probaly are bubbles comming from your substrate, they don't cause any problems. The red stuff is red hair algea, that is caused by nitrate levels being up a little bit, I'd say try doing a water change and see if that helps also you can add nitrate sponge to your filters, and it help bring it down. You have to change that every couple of weeks though, if you buy some read the carton, I've seen different instrustions on changing it. Hope this is helpful. Later Lisa
