I had a Betta, and he developed a large bump on his side. It was about half the size of his body. He was doing great, eating, etc, but I didn't want whatever it was to spread to the other fish, so I put him in a small hospital tank and treated him with some stuff (don't remember the name of it). He was still alive and the bump was not going away. He didn't act sick. So that is when I made the big mistake. I put him back into the original tank. After the giant goldfish got finished ripping his fins off, he was somehow still alive. I found him floating there. I felt very very bad (I had been treating him in that sick tank for 3 weeks). Poor guy fought despite his giant bump and then I threw him into that hell. He died from the injuries that night. I checked the bump. It contained hard mooshy stuff. It was not liquidy but rather was gooey and white. The bump actually went right into his side. I do not know how he lived that long. Does anyone have any idea what this bump may have been?

I am not sure what this is so I am going to move it to the Freshwater Pests and deseases forum ASAP. Hope they can help you out.
