I purchase my goldfish from a petstore about a month ago and they told me she was pregnant. She has a big belly and is always hungry. I was wondering how long goldfish are pregnant and what I should know for when she has her little fishies, I don't want her to eat them.

Thanks,

Sorry to disillusion you, but goldfish do not get pregnant. They are egg layers and may fatten up a little when they are sexually mature. A lot of goldfish just look like that. It could be that your fish has an air bladder infection which is quite common due to overbreeding. When the fish swims, does it list off to one side or the other? does it swim with either it's head or tail higher? These could be indications of an air bladder infection. As for the problem that it is always hungry, some fish are like that and will literally eat themselves to death. Don't make the mistake of overfeeding. Don't believe everything your LFS tells you.

I have moved your other post and will move this post to the goldfish forum where you will get more specialized help.
