The more color and wider tail Fancy Guppies will inter breed giving you more colors and wider tails as you cross breed them. If you are wanting two fish to mate then set them up in a tank buy them selves. IE a bredder tank and you can put in a baby divider that allows the offspring to escape to there own side of the tank.

Chris, by getting the parent stock of the best fish that we can , you have the best probability of getting the best babis the will have the most traits like the parents. That is what a breeder of any animal orpalnts tries to do, get the best parent lines soas to get the best babies. This sometimes gets into breeding brother with sister or mother to son or father to daughter to bring out a particular trait that you like and think will be benificial to the fsh. Sometimes when breeding like ths a recessive trait that is not good will show yup;and you will not have as good a fish line as you would like to have. Also remwember that a female can store sperm from one mating to be ableto become fertalized for several batches of babies. This iswhy it is best to breed virgin females to the best males. If she has mated with the less desirable males she will have babies that have traits like the less desirable male(s) as well as the desirable male. You will have to grow them for several months to see which males have the most desirable traits whereas with the females, you will not be able to tell as easily. If you have any other questions please ask, that is what we are here to help you with. ;)

Just to add on, make sure you have plants in the aquarium. The best are imo, live plants. They will hide the babies till you are able to take them out of the tank and into a breeder or another tank. Guppies eat their babies.
