Okay, my aquarium finally finished cycling so I did a water change.

I read somewhere that if you have zebra danios, when you do a water change you can save the water and 48 hours later if any eggs are present- you will have fry.

Well, it has been two days later, I have one living thing in my bucket. I took a picture of it, here it is:
<img src="http://members.cox.net/che4hire/Fry.jpg" alt="" />

I don't think it is a mosquito larvae because there aren't any mosquitos around where I live, and the bucket has been inside since I filled it. It responds to my finger and the flashlight, meaning it swims away from both. It "swims" like a fish.

It is about 3/16 of an inch long and thin as coarse hair.

Is it a zebra danio fry or something else?

If it is a zebra danio fry, what should I do? It won't be able to net it cause it is too small. I thought about using an eye dropper, but it swims pretty fast. Any suggestions?

Once, I catch it- then how should I take care of it? If I add it back to the tank- it will be fish food.

Thanks,

M

It is a fry. I would IMO, get a breeder net, one that has holes small enough so it wont swim out, and put the fry in there. Also you have to feed it baby brine shrimp or meisis( i think thats what its called). Go to a LFS and ask for the SMALLEST food. Then from there, in about 6 months, you would prob have a full grown danio :) (any1 that knows more, correct me if im wrong :) )

If that is the only fish that you had in the tank then it must be a danio. If it si still alive then I would get the egg layers food for fry. and put it in a fish cup (like thy use to cup fish in after they catch them in the fish stores) and hang this inside the tank. Do not use the breeding net or other fish will "suck the fry through the net, I lost a couple of batches of angelfish fry that way. Every day pour part of the water into the tank and fill it back up with tank water. When it is about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch long then it could go into a netand put some fine leaved plants in with it, both in the net and in the speciman cup. This will give it a hiding plance as well as a place to feed on small foods that live in and on the plants.
I am going to sent this to the breeding forum.

That is soooo cool!!! I have two Zebra Danios and one of them looks like shes full of eggs. I didn't buy them to breed but if they did it would be awesome! They are both about 4 years old.

Hey Sicklid... I found the same thing in my tank.... I couldn't figure out what the heck it was. I took a pic and people told me it was dragonfly larvae... uhhhh no.
I have three in my tank that look just like your pic.
can you see my pic??
So, do you still have it? Does it look like ssomething else now??

HOLLIEO - Unless you have dragonflies around your tank, I don't think that might be it. It looks more like a fish fry, but hard to tell, since they all look similar when they're young. What kind of fish do you have in your tank?

You should try to isolate them and put an airline tube with stone in there and follow oscarbartoni's suggestion.
