Hi,

Does anyone know where I can send my large 14"+ Pacu. He is getting too big for my 55 gallon tank and has starting eating other new small fish. He's got to go and needs a bigger home.

Thanks.

Wow, you have a 14" Pacu in a 55? That must be a sight. Maybe a pet store or public aquarium would like him as a show piece.

Hi Steve,

That's is what I did. However, when I went to visit my Pacu about 3 days later it's eye, the one I could see, was clouded over and its fins were translucent around the edges (about the first 1/2 inch). They said they were medicating it, but I have to wonder if they weren't killing it. I haven't been back, because I'm afraid it is dead.

Well I'm glad you found a place for him. It's too bad he's sick. Did they say how he got hurt? Was it a run in with the glass? I have 2 Pacus. They are about 8" right now. I love them and would really hate to see them hurt.

Hi Steve,

They didn't say it ran into anything and said no other fish were in the tank with it. Only that it's sick and they are medicating it. Perhaps the stress of moving it and it being on its own caused this. I had a 6" Kissing Gourami, a 12" Placousmeous(sp), and two smaller Gourami's in the 55 gallon tank. Sounds a little fishy to me. It was a beautiful fish in very good condition. I didn't want it to die, only to get it a larger more suitable home. I took a roll of pictures of it before I took it to the fish store. I hope they turn out. It seems a still picture does look quite the same as far as dimensions compared to the whole tank as it looks when you are viewing it.

Hi Again Steve,

My Pacu was 6 years old and started about 1" in length when I got it.

How long have you had your Pacu's? They are getting pretty big if they are 8" long. How big is your tank and what do you think you will do with them when they get larger? And they will get largerrrr.

I meant it doesn't look the same not does.

Thanks.

I got my 2 Pacus in March. They were about an inch long then. They are now in an 80 gallon. I will get a much bigger tank once they get too big for the 80. I don't think I will be able to give them away. I like them too much. They are in with a 9" Oscar and a 3 " Jack Dempsey right now. They are always playing around like a couple of puppies.
