The coloring of my entire school of harlequin rasboras has deepened to a lovely dark cherry, and three of the seven have gotten extremely fat. While I understand fish obesity to be a common problem, I suspect that these are heavily gravid. Now what do I do with them? Should I move them to a breeding box and see what happens? What kind of egg-layers are rasboras? (I assume scatterers....)

Harlequins are usually hard to breed. They prefer soft, acidic water. The female's black patch forms almost a triangle, while the male's black patch is slightly rounded at the bottom and extended, so it looks almost like a scoop.
If you are lucky enough to have them spawn, the male and female will normally lay upside down underneath leaves and intice the females to lay their eggs. This may may take several days. Unfortunately, the males/females have a tendancy to eat their own eggs, so it's best to remove the parents after the eggs have been laid.
