ich? velvet? neither?

I have a Banded Leporinus which has been having problems for the past two weeks. It has symptoms of either ich or velvet but with no visual signs. It has been flashing against gravel and shaking its head left and right like it is trying to shake something off. I check my water weekly and all is good (ammonia 0, nitrate/nitrite 0, pH level 7.0) I have been treating the aquarium with RidIch+ for about 2 weeks and it is not helping. I have also raised the temp. to 86 degrees and it is also not helping. I do about 20% water change before each treatment as instructed on RidIch+ bottle. I keep an eye on the fish and I don't see any white dots that ich gives or yellowish dust that velvet gives. I also dont see any flukes or worms on the body in the gills or anywhere. All my other fish in the same aquarium is doing fine. What can this possibly be? any help is appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply...

Since it has no external signs of a disease, it could be something else. Fish will flash at times, just becuase of an itch. It does not mean it has an external parasite. I'll check up on the headshaking, which could just be a territorial behaviour. I'll check up on it and post it.

Regarding the Rid-Ich, are you treating it alone in a tank? Otherwise, if not, carefully watch the water levels (ammonia, nitrITEs/nitrATEs, etc.). Rid-Ich kills off bacteria, both bad and good (benificial bacteria). So it will or may have already set the tank in a sort of "new" tank condition.

Hey i think your fish will be fine. MY male guppy does the same thing. And i have had him for a bout four monthes now.
