We have finally taken possession of a 650 gal. tank for an Amazon habitat. It is drilled with 4 holes for standpipes (3" each) shielded 2 each behind plex. fences. I am stuck trying to decide what kind of filtration to build. (We want to make all of it we can... it is more fun then buying it.) I was thinking of twin pumps and twin filters for redundancy, however I need inspiration as to the final design. Where do we go for design comparisons and ideas? We are putting in Arawana, Pacu, and Amazon Cats etc. We also need some high capacity air and heat etc. where do we look for such? We like to over engineer and design to have excess capacity for longer intervals between maintenance and the occasional disaster. Would apreciate any advice on interesting tankmates from experiance also, both good and bad, however must be from Amazon area to keep true to theme.

What are the dimensions?
Sounds great! There is a lot of water to change in a tank like that!:CO
Good Luck!

The tank is 10' long and aprox. 4' high and I guess about 2.5' deep. The stand is a little over 3' tall but we are going to cut it down about 11". I have several ideas what to do for filtration, just nothing that seems to seize the imagination like the system on our 110 gal.
I hope you have some ideas, like what kind of pumps will provide the head to reach almost 7' from the sump to the top of the tank? (Quiet, cool, high vollume, efficient, etc.)
I was thinking of using toy army men, (beat your swords into plowshears) and little dinosaurs etc. in place of bio-balls in the trickle part, that would be imaginative. Where to place the heaters? Other filter media? Stages?
To use a subsand or not to use? Standard or reverse flow? Airlift or pump? What kind of air pump?
Any ideas?
Blessings,
