It would be a good idea to update your profile. Your fish is, however, a food fish that gets to be 20" long and so is too big for your tank even if it's the only one in there.

i understand that they are really big fish i already learned that much but that also takes 5-10 years and hopefully i will have my 500 gallon by then . my profile was updated today. i would just like to know more specifics like temperment, ph requirement, and suitable companions, appropriate diet etc..

Are you sure you updated your profile? It says the fish is in your 80 and your profile says the 80 is empty.
Can I ask, WERE THE HELL YOU GET A 500 GALLON TANK FROM please?!!!!!!?????

They can be special ordered, you can build one yourself with instructions from an on-line site, or you can have someone else build it.
I can imagine its one expensive tank. Not to mention a filter rated for 1000 gallons.
BTW aquak. where did you get you 70? Was it in a kit or didyou buy all the parts seperatly?
Thanks

ok i submitted my modifications for my profile. the 500 gal. is beutiful its actually a display tank in a store and they will be upgrdaing to a larger tank its awesome. casco makes the filter its kinda like the one that a lot of the petsmart use it takes a closet to its self but there is very little work on my part other than changing prefiltersdaily. theres uv sterilizers, fluidized bed, bio balls and all sorts of other fun stuff. anyway my fish i need info please.

KDD, If you do a search on aquaculture in Indonesia and such parts of the world that the fish is native to and where research is being done on it because it's a food fish, you will find some sites that tell you what they are feeding the captive ones. Here's one example:
hoeveni are being fed coconut water, cassava, rubber leaves

Ali, I bought my 70 -- wood cabinet, canopy, all equipment, drift wood, and fish -- from an on-line classified for my area. It cost $300, much less than buying it any other way and the fish that came with it were worth a bit. I got a new canister filter for it, but have been able to use the 2 hang-ons for other tanks. I would imagine such a site for local classifieds can be found in your area. Also, don't forget the classifieds in the paper. I got a complete 20 gallon set-up, including wood cabinet, for $75 when I was desperate for a place to put some of the fish while I set up the 70 (again). (I'd tried the wrong kind of sand and it needed to be all broken down and cleaned and new sand ordered and waited for, etc.!) If I'd had time to look around, I could have gotten a better deal on that one.
Can I have the link for that site?
Thanks and sorry kdd that I'm using your thread for myself.

It's local and I'm in upstate New York. You need to do a search for your area. Put in "want ads" and the general name of your area or a large city or two. Also, you can try ebay and aquabid and see if you can find a local set-up there. They usually don't ship them for obvious reasons.
