My one angelfish has a slightly enlarged stomach. Its not huge and he is still swimming all over the place, eats food. I have off tomorrow so ill try to check if hes doing his.... "business" He has deff gotten thicker all the way around, wish I could get a picture. I would get some of that garlic juice stuff but its crazy expensive! Im on a budget!!! But if thats the only thing then let me know. Hes in my 75 gallon.... no fins are nipped and hes not breathing heavy, doesnt hide or anything. I feed him flakes and every other day he gets some bloodworms or some brine shrimp. Any ideas?

It may be nothing to worry about. Popefully it is a female that is thick with eggs and wants to spawn. If you knotice her(?) "cleaning an area or the tank like a plant leave or the galss and knotice a tube sticking down in frount of her(?) anal fin then that wuld indicate that it is a female and wants to spawn. Of course the eggs if laid will not hatch but she will still fan and protect then until they rot away. If on the other hand the scales are sticking out then that would indicate dropsy which is usually brought about by bad water conditions. I am hoping fo rthe first conditon.

Well, she/he doesnt seem to be cleaning any areas or protecting anything from any other fish. Her scales dont seem to be any diff. and is swimming all around. The stomach went down a little..... maybe it was gas? :p Maybe he/she just ate alot... who knows, but hes/shes doin ok now, everything is back to normal. Thanks for the info though! Sorry Angelmom, no digi camera

i have had angels fill with eggs but show no preparation habits like spot cleaning. they ussually dump the eggs and they are eaten rather quickly. so it is possible to have missed it with no other clue than a slimmer appearance.
if this is the case you should check your water parameters for ph,gh,and kh. most hobbyists are so keen on the ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite fear that we overlook other more subtle water problems. the test result variables may not be 'killing' your fish but you can certainly get better colour and breeding results by matching these parameters to your fishes specific needs.
