I am getting my wood floors sanded, stained
and polyuerthane. I intend to move my 20 gallon tank
approximately 10 ft to another room that has a door.
I intend to place the tank close to an open window.
I plan to cover all vents and cover the whole door with
a plastic to try to prevent the odor getting in the room. Will this be enuff to . There is a ceiling fan in the room and
I also intend to put an hepa air and odor remover
unit in the room to help protect my fish. Any advice
will be appreciated.

Hi

When I paint, etc., I open all windows and if the paint has a strong smell, I also put a big fan in a window to blow the smell out. I figure, if I can prevent the smell from going into the rest of the house, my fish aren't effected.

I just painted walls (with latex) and window sills (with oil based) in the next room to my aquariums. Both of my aquariums came through OK. I'm not sure how the paint smells compare to the polyuerthane.

Major construction was done on the other side of the wall that the one aquarium is against. Again, the fish came through OK.

I think it all depends upon how delicate the fish in your tank are.

Hi;

Thanks for the input.

I have two parot fish, 3 blue barbs, three miners.

I've already have a 36 gallon tank that I'm going

to move them to when the floors completely dry,

probably 3 day's. The twenty gallon tank has an Eclipse

system II. I purchased an Eheim 2213 that I have

had running simultaneously for a month. This way

I can use the water and the gravel from the old tank and

use the Eheim 2213. I was thinking of also using an

undergravel system with a penguin 550 powerhead.

Thanks again for your reply,

As you can tell, I'm not familiar with polyurethane but I will mention this.

I painted the top to my desk mid July. I waited a week to put my monitor back on it. When I moved the monitor about 1 week ago, some of the paint came off (the monitor was stuck to the desk top). I moved my phone last night and it didn't take the paint off but the phone was stuck to the desk top as well. It had been there since I moved my desk about 1 week ago. Be prepared, if you ever move your aquarium, the finish may come with it.

hiya all!
what i do when we exterminate in th elab I cover the tanks with searan wrap (plastic sheet ) and turn off the air bubles and co2 and leave the tank with the filers running.
This most of the time (exept real heavy bioload) is sufficient to sustaine the fish for a day or two.
It is important to monitor the setup for a few hours 2 be sure.
