Is there any small fish compatable with a dinosaur eel? This will be in a 28 gallon hex tank so the fish can't be too large.

Any fish that would not overcrowd the tank would probably fish food for your fish. You might try some of the catfish such as the larger corydoras catfish. These are fish that have hard scales and spines that would make it very hard to eat.

Lloyd, you must have had one that did not realize that they eat small fish in the wild or you have one that is eating prepared foods well enough that it does not need to try and eat the smaller fish. In the pet shop where I worked I would feed them goldfish by hand and they woid not hesitate eating them from my hand.

i'm sure he grabbed a few. ;) point is...he didn't pig out like some carnivores can. i keep a pair of mastacemblis elipsifer eels with fry also. they are always ready to take food from my hand and i have never seen them pounce on a fry. so...IME, i think madkaw will be safe to pick up a few quick fish without any regret.
the reason i keep my eels (they are 10-12") with fry is that they seemed to create a curiousity with larger fish looking for lunch. my eels were being picked on in a tank with other carns so i moved them out. i would rather loose a few extra fry than find my precious eels snacked on. and a tank with only eels in it is pretty empty.
