scared guppies?

my female guppies rarely come out of hiding unless its dark...is this normal? i noticed at the pet store they had a "moss" like plant covering almost the entire top of the tankmaybe that means that the females like darkness or are they just scared right now?

Not sure why they used the moss. I use something similar but that is for the new offspring have a place to hide from other fish as they will eat there young.

see the thing is my females are always hiding and i rarely see them . even when i feed they remain hiding and so i;m wondering wwhats wrong

What else are you keeping in the aquarium with these guppies ? Also how long has it been since they were added to the aquarium ?

i also have 5 neons and two cory's the males and young guppies are out most of the time but the females prefer the dark i had them for 5 days now
