Snails ARGGH!

I've got snails! As far as I can figure they piggybacked in on my plants. The problem is they reproduce like an atom bomb went off and they need to repopulate the galaxy. I've read about some of the snail eating fish but none of them are a good option for me as they need a much bigger tank than I have. What other options do I have to get rid of these pests? Their eggs are clogging my filters and since I got them my water looks "dingy".

use a slice of cucumber as bait in a upturned dish, leave it there for several hours(maybe longer) and remove when the snails have taken the bait. youll likely have to do this repeatedly to knock the population back. if the snails are small you can squish them with your fingers and the fish will eat the remains(hopefully) otherwise manual removal is the best option, killing them with chemicals isnt a good idea since the massive die off will pollute the water
