i have had my two platys since i have had my tank, lately i have noticed that one of them is very very fat and the other isnt.platys are livebearers right? If so, just my luck when i picked them out i got a male and female not knowing that they were livebearers at the time so i didnt know the difference.the one i think is pregnant has a short rounded anal fin and the other i cant realy tell since the anal fin is tucked up against the body so im sure its a male. Anyway if my platy is pregnant,WHAT CAN I DO!!,i dont have an extra tank for the fry. Will most of them survive in there birth tank with all those other fish? :HP

If your tank is well planted with a lot of hiding spaces, you may have some luck keeping the fry alive. The only problem would be feeding them. Not many ideas as far as that bit goes. Sorry!

I would make sure that there are plenty of true aquatic fine leaved plants floating in the tank to provide shelter and some food in the form of infusoria. Also you can take some flake food and grind it up fine (in your fingers if you have no other way) to feed the young. Just do not overfeed and make sure to do your regular water changes. Platies are livebearing fish that the females can store sperm for several months, fertilizing a brood each month or so with this stored sperm. This means that if you buy only a female from the store and put it in a tank by herself, she might deliver up to 6 (or maybe even more) broods of fry without having a male in with her.
