I have talked to a friend that had a breeding pair. He wanted to know what kind of info are you looking for. I'm hoping he will check in later and add to this thread.

Red devils are a cichlid from Central America and are a tetatorial fish that will defend their area against all commers, unfortunatately some times that area includes the whole tank meaning everything else might be killed if it is in the tank with your red devil. If your tank is large enouge or the fish small enough (for a while) then they might coexist with other fish of like size but not the same color but make sure to divide up the tank with boundries like rocks wood or other things that a fish might recognize as a boundry and also put in hiding places for fish to be able to get away from the more aggressive fish. I hope that thsi adds to your knowledge and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask as we want to keep you and any others from making the same mistakes that we might have made in the pas. t:FS :CU (The red devil)

i took note at looking at my new red devil the other day that it was moving all the rocks in the tank putting them in a pile it work all though the day and night you can hear rock being moved she managed to move 1/2 the rocks in the tank into one pile. what is she trying to do? it sure is neat seeing he/she do this.

Good info provided by oscarbartoni.I woould also like to add that they are full of personality and are owner responsive. They are better off kept solo unless you nave a big tank to house them with others that can hold there own.Ive seen them live peacefully in tanks in the 300g range with other cichlids not as aggressive as the RD/Midas.

As with most South and Central American cichlids, the Red Devils like to decorate their "homes" the way they like to . If you put the gravel back the way you like it they will just pile it up the way they want it. And they might rearrange it continously because they might not like it they way that they put it in the first place. This is also probably a good way to get exercise for these animals. :CU
