I got a test kit and here are the results. GH is 240 and KH is 230. Ph is 8.2. i do have well water so whatever all this means to me is kinda unknown.. Ha ha. All i know is my little tanks is up and running perfectly right now with those water perameters. So hopefully my SA Cichlids will work good in there also...

The high GH means you will get mineral deposits forming at some point. The high KH (alkalinity) means that the pH will be very difficult to lower. SA cichlids prefer a lower pH, but IMO it's better to keep things stable and the fish will get used to whatever you've got without too much trouble. I'd suggest looking very carefully at any fish you want to bring home ... depending on the water parameters of the tanks at the LFS, any fish that are slightly stressed might have an issue with acclimation.

You might consider going with Central American cichlids that live in harder water than their South American cousins do. There are many to chose from including the convict cichlid. Ther3e are many others but as with most cichlids they are territorial in nature and unless you have plenty of room you might wind up with a lot fewer fish than what you started with.Another fish that comes to mind and is not too aggressive is the firemouth.Colorful not too aggressive and does not get too large (up to 6 inches but usually smaller).
