I was looking for a little filter that fits into the tube for the use with a UGF.

When I first purchased my UGF, it included a little filter that fit within the tube. This will prevent small debris from going up into the tube and eventually going into the powerhead, which I use. I had to replace the tube, since it was a bit discolored and when I tried to remove the little filter, it broke to pieces. I looked all over and I can't seem to find those anymore. Does anyone know where I can get them?

Hi and welcome to the boards!

That is a gravel guard and unfortunately, that part is only available with a new undergravel filter. Lee, Penn Plax and Perecto are the manufacturers that provide gravel guarads with their UGF and none of them sell the parts separately with the exception of the hard tubing.

Your best bet would be to ask within this forum and see if anyone has one leftover from setting up a larger UGF, where they did not use all of the parts.

As long as there is no gravel getting under your filter plates there would be no need for it though would there? And no large debris can get into the uplift tube because the gravel will filter them out.
I use powerheads without a guard with no problem.

I do have some gravel that fall below the UGF, which happens to be thinner pieces of gravel. I also have some snails and I don't want them crawling up the powerhead.

I'm surprised that the gravel gaurds are not found anywhere else. Maybe I'll ask the manufactures if they could spare some of purchase some from them.

Do you happen to have contact info for Lee, Penn Plax and Perecto?

Put your mouse over the Product Info link above and click on Manufacturers Web Sites. There's more to our site than meets the eye.

Yes, I went over to Lee's website and then to their contact page. I told them my story about and were happy to send me replacements.

Thanks for you help.
