I had a fish die and the order of my least aggressive to most got switch around. I currently have one maroon clown, one bird wrasse, one yellow tang and one velvet damsel. I just added a coral beauty and all the fish except the clown are chasing her around the tank. Should I move their rocks around immediately or should I give it a couple of days? I moved the rocks before adding the coral beauty and even fed the fish. I took precautions but it seems to be chaotic in the tank right now.

What size is your tank and how large are the other fish? the velvet damsel is pretty aggressive, the wrasse can be also. I'm surprised the yello tang is in the 'gang', but if they have a "turf", it's expected.

If the tank is relatively small, eg, 30 to 50, it will probably happen as their "home" territory is rather small and confined (I've seen three yellow tangs mix it up in a 240G).

You could try mixing up the rocks, stacking them on either side of the tank and opening the center, this will give them each a side to inhabit and call home. Tangs like to duck under rocks or crevices, try creating a few caves for it to retreat into.

I just saw the other post, is this related to the Coral beauty not eating?

It's a 72 gallon. I am gonna remove the damsel. The coral beauty is the same fish that wasn't eating in my QT tank but she is eating well now.

all those fish you have in there can be some what aggressive even the yellow tang which i would classify as a semi-aggressive fish thy aggression may die down in a couple days it may not another thing you can do is get some big buckets and put some tank water in them and then add all of your fish except your coral beauty and rearrange the rock leaving the fish in the buckets for a couple hours this will help the coral beauty to establish his territory some what it will also confuse the other fish so that when they go back into the tank the will have to find a new territory good luck! mixing fish can be a tricky thing
