Hello!
I was wondering if anyone would happen to have any old (but still usable) equipment (filters, lighiting, powerheads, even live rock)
that i could get for free or reasonable price. Im not quite old enough to get a job, so i dont get alot of money.
If you dont have anything, do you know any good places where i could?
Thanks.
PS-- it would be nice for used items to have been used in saltwater.

yahoo.com has groups called freecycle. look into that. i got 3 30 gallons from one of the freecycle in my area.
on these forums you usually wont get a response. You will love freecycle if yall have it. i have donated aquatic stuff all the time. but never mailing, just local in pasadena texas and surrounding areas.
good luck friend. I wish you the best of luck!!

One good idea is to look in the phone book under aquariums lease/maintenance and put in a request for old used equipment/tanks with aquarium maintenance companies.
Aquarium Professionals Group (my company) frequently take down tanks for folks moving out of town or relocating or when customers upgrade to a larger aquarium.
We give most of those tanks/equipment away to our employees but most of our employees have two to seven tanks each and we often have a surplus. We keep some items to use as "loaner" equipment when client chillers, pumps, etc die.
Even with what we keep/give away, we still have UV sterilizers, wavemakers, tons of pumps, etc. plus a few tanks lying around taking up space. We once tried EBay and even these forums (in the early days) but folks seem too picky even when we were practically giving stuff away and wanted too much information above the "as is" descriptions we'd provide. We might try again if we can get folks to realize that a $400.00 UV sterilizer being sold for the price of shipping and handling is a BARGAIN even if it needs replacement sleeve and lamp.
So give those companies a call. They just might have what you need.
