Any competitive rollerskaters out there?

No not me. But my next door neighbor kid is a pro roller blader he is always In the X games I see him on TV all the time.

If he's pro, chances are he's making some money out of it. :) USARS is amateurs (sp?) only, but is expected to become an Olympic event in 2008.

However, in Italy, where rollerskating is considered a national sport, good skaters, no, make that VERY GOOD, skaters, are paid (USD $80k) by the government to skate year round. When they achieve that status, they're alongside celebrities and reap endorsements, contracts, etc.

I'm asking cause (1) my kids skate and (2) a few friends are heading to Germany this weekend to skate in the world events.

Yea he makes 80k to 100k a year plus endorsments, like nikie and K2. he travels all over the world. He is only 20 years old.
