HILLSTREAM LOACH
(Beaufortia kweichowensis) there are also several other species
Also know as "Butterfly Loach and "Butterfly Pleco" is considered a "false loach" and definitely not a pleco
1. How big- Up to 2 inches
2. Tank size- 20 gallons or more
3. Temprature- no higher than 78 degrees (prefers cold water about 68-74 degrees
4. Temprament- very peaceful, can be territorial with each other, but no harm
5. Single or group- does better with a partner
6. Food- bottom feeder that lives off of aufwuchs (microorganisms in algae) & diatoms also reported to eat left over food, crab bites, blood worms, etc.
7. Not really a beginner fish, needs very clean water and a mature tank with plenty of algae
*These fish come from very fast moving, cold streams in China and prefer a cooler tank with lots of oxygen and fast moving water*
