Petco is having a sale starting this Sunday (August 20, 2006) regarding aquariums. They are selling their 20-55 gallon tanks for $1 per gallon, which means, 55 gallon tanks will be sold for $55. Check your local Petco.

I heard about this deal from a person in another US state, from another forum. So I called my local Petco to verify if the sale was valid here, which they said it was.

I called my local petco and they are having the sale Sunday. I need a 5 gal for my betta also, and this would be the perfect time to get a 30 gallon too. Thanks for the heads up.

NP, but from what I heard, the sale is only for 20-55 gallon tanks.

From the other forums I belonged to, a few have checked their local Petco and some are selling 10g to 55g, no bowfronts. So you may have to check with your local Petco to see what tanks they are/will be selling.

Well, if that is the case I guess I won't get lucky. I already have 2 spare 10 gals so maybe I will just put the betta in one of those and find him some friends!

Well it turns out, while I was in the checkout, you have to sign up for one of their petco card things or you don't get the discount....so I left the store without it and won't be doing business with them again. They should have mentioned that when I called about it on the phone.

You live you learn.

I just passed the info from someone else and they never mentioned it. Those Petco discount cards are FREE, so why would you pass it up? They are NO membership fees nor is it a credit card. As I said, they are FREE.

Those Petco discount cards are FREE, so why would you pass it up?

Because they sell your information to spammers and junk mail advertisers. That's what all these stores do with those discount cards. They make a ton of money selling addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. :(

But who says you have to use your real info? When I filled mine up, I wrote so bad, I doubt even if a cryptologist could figure it out. I think the only real information I gave was email address, but the one I gave was my regular junk email address I use. I doubt the FBI will come breaking through my door for filling out false information.

I have a discount card from Petco, Petsmart, Aquarium Adventure, not to mention Dominics and Jewel. I don't know about you guys, but I don't mind saving a few extra dollars for those last minute things I need.

Besides, where can you get a new 55 gallon tank for $55?

If anyone doesn't have a junk email address already, there are PLENTY of sites that offer it, such as Yahoo, AOL, flashmail, or just do a google search. You also do not have to give your real info when you sign up for a free email address.

I had plans on getting rid of tanks and fish. That was before the tank sale. I now own a 29 gallon, which I was wanting to trade for my 37 gallon tank for, which I've decided to keep. I also bought a 40 gallon breeder, which I've always wanted when I decide to breed L-046 plecos in the future.
