Hello. I am new in here, just signed up today.
I have been raising african chichlids for about
10 years now. I have 4 adult africans (8 mo. old)
in a 29 gal. show tank. I'm getting a 55 gal. soon.
Aprox. how many african chichlids will be suitable,
w/o overcrowding? Thank you. Kenny j

hello kennyj and welcome! :D

You can have up to 50 to 60 inches of fish (about one inch per 12 sq. inches of surface area) in a 55 gallon tank.

But remember to allow for growth; that's the kicker. If you don't, you'll lose fish.

Also, don't forget to stock SLOWLY, starting with 25% of total tank capacity, then adding that much more every four weeks or so, and AFTER a water change.
