Does anyone add iron to their reef tank? I used to add it to my planted freshwater tanks and in the current book i am reading (V3, The Reef Aquarium, Science, Art, and Technology) they suggest it but admit there is not much known about the long term effects by using it. Any thoughts?

I add trace elements, cal, iodine, and sometimes mag.

Ah, so that is how you get your Fe in your tank. I add that as well to mine but Fe is used up so rapidly that I can test as soon as I add the trace elements and get a minimum reading. Then the next day Fe doesn't register on my test kit. I have a bottle of Kent Marine Iron Supplement ( http://www.aquariumpros.com/p-KEN00056,SPte.html ). I am just nervous to use it on my tank unless I have heard of someone else using it.
