I managed to spawn a very nice pair of convicts. Both parents have nice markings and don't do stupid stuff like eat their offspring. The female exhibits awesome stripes with the orange marking and lots of rainbow coloring on the fins. The male has pretty decent stripes with an obvious hump on the head. Dad is larger and doesn't take any crap from mom. Mom loves dad and is smart enough to know she can't beat him. Both fish are pretty and have the nice purple/black glow going on. There's close to 100 little ones in my 20g tank. No hybrids here. I'm offering them free fisho whomever wants them. I live near Baltimore, Md.

Before I get flamed on accomodations, I have a 75g tank in my basement which has been cycling for 2 weeks. I'll move them there once the water is good.

Your large tank is not cycling unless o are feeding the bacteria that is needed to get rid of ammonia and nitrite and converting it into nitrate, This is what is known as cycling a tank.
As far as the baby convicts, you might wish to check out the pet shops and also free cycle (a yahoo group that is all over the country) You might wish to also advertise on Craig's list to get rid of the baby convicts. Just make sure that they are large enough at least 1/2 inch long or preferably larger.

I tossed a bunch of fish food in the tank to get things going in terms of ammonia/nitrite weeks ago. I have a sponge filtration going with the bio pellets on stand by.

You need to keep testing for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate to see if your tank is cycling properly. You might wish to rinse the filter from your small tank into the larger one to make sure that there are good bacteria introduced into the tank or you can add some gravel from the small tank into the larger tank (even if it is in a stocking to be taken out later). Anyway good luck on your new convict cichlid fry.
