I am amalgamating two tanks into one larger one. I have a large common plec (about 10-12 inches long) and a younger, smaller (about 5 inches) spotty plec (I have forgotten his species name but I think he is an angelicus).

They are both currently living happily with a variety of other fish but no other large catfish. I am nowwondering whether they will get on together as I have read the plecos sometimes don't (though they seem to be ok in the local aquarium shop, who have several large plecs in the same tank).

I am thinking of introducing the smaller one to the tank first, although it is the larger one that desperately needs the space.

You need to go back to your profile and change it to reflect what you have now, you only have one tank listed and your post says that you are intending to put fish from two tanks into one. What size tank are the plecos going into? If it is not large enough then you might wish to trade or give away the large one because it will probably out grow the tank that you are going to put it in.
