That is quite a good idea. I had a quick look in the chat room but didn't feel like talking to myself. The only problem is that some people like me are in a completely different time zone and you will probably be all talking at 3am. Still anything would be better than the current system.

Hi folks!
I would be all for that. We put up the chat room for folks to use in the hopes that board users would do exactly what you are discussing. We pay a hefty subscription fee per year so that the chats will run on a fast server, and it's been fairly discouraging to not see the feature go to good use. I have found people in there now and then, so I have kept it here. The boards are growing very rapidly, at almost 20 new members a week, and it was my hope that as the board membership gets huge, more folks would use the resource.
Thanks.

I have been giving it some thought and I decided maybe 9:30 saturday might be better because those of us in a different time zone will be more likely to be able to make the effort to get there if it was on a weekend (ie not working or sleeping).
What do you think?

Perhaps someone can tell me what time 9:30pm is in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), So I can figure out exactly what time to get here on either tuesday or saturday whichever is best.
I don't know what you mean by est.

Im new to salt water aquariums but not to new, I got some knowledge but I needs much more. I think this is a good idea because it hapens tro me to when I go to the chatroom to talk to myself. and another idea is instead of just the day, add the date because here it says saturday but which one, is it this saturday or past saturday. the way I understand it right now it will be the 1 of march 2003 at 9:30 PM EST.
I typed the date like that because in some places they write day month and year in the states is month day and year
Just a suggestion
Thanks

What time is 9:30pm is in Greenwich Mean Time? (GMT),
16:30 GMT.
The east coast of the United States is +5hrs GMT.
Hope this helps get everyone on the the same clock.

After four years, folks are finally going to use the chat room. We pay a huge fee for the chat room which is hosted on another site.
If I get enough people in there and it gets popular, I will upgrade it to a much more feature-rich chat system. I have long hoped that folks would get in there and use the resource.
I find it strange that there are not more aquarium-hobby related chat rooms on the Internet, as you would think folks would like to share their ideas through conversation in real-time. When we were searching the Internet to find links for our collection, we came across only one other fish chat room, and it seemed abandoned.
This is great. You use it, and I'll make it better.

Fonchy, I believe the idea was to use those times every week.
While I have been a strong supporter of using the chat room, I have been one of the worst for missing these meetings. Unfortunately the different time zone means that I am at work on wednesday or in the middle of doing something on sunday and forget. I did get on one sunday (your sat 9:30) and still no one there.
Do try to come along though, we might be able to make something of it eventually.

Great, I like that. So will the next meeting be 9 March 2003 @ 9:30 PM EST. Is there any way we can send this to all the members to see if we can start the chatroom. I would really like this and I know there is a lot of people that will do the samer thing only if they knew
Hope to hear something soon.
If that is not an adqueate time lets figure one out, I dont really care about the time , I can be here any time.
