Default Pregnant Fish!

I have a Gold Dust lyre tail Molly (male I think), a silver lyre tail Molly (female I think) and a red Platy (female I think). They have been in a 10 gallon tank together for about a month.

I'm 99% sure that both the silver molly and the red platy are pregnant.

uh oh..lol

Is it possible that Mr Gold Dust got them both pregnant? Should I just keep them all together? Separate the male? Separate everyone? Will my filter suck up the babies? Do I need to get a breeder tank?

Thanks!

No matter what, you need a bigger tank. 10 gallons is too small for three mollies. A sponge over the filter will keep the babies from getting sucked up into it. And yes, the male most definitely can impregnate 2 (and more if they are available) females.

The male molly will not cross with the platy. She probably is pregnant from when you got her. Most female live bearing fish can store sperm so that they can become pregnant for several pregnancies with out being with a male again. Yes you will need a larger tank especially if any of the fry do not get eaten by the adults.
