A Top Fathom venturi
protein skimmer is one of the best investments you can make for your salt water
aquarium.
- They efficiently remove dissolved
organic materials from the water. This is done by maximizing air and
water contact time using tangenial water injection and counter current
design. There is one important note on efficiency: this protein
skimmer becomes more efficient with a higher pressure pump. In general,
venturi skimmers used with powerheads and smaller pumps, though
effective, can be more so when upgraded.
- This skimmer produces thorough gas
exchange, which is also the result of maximum air/water contact.
- Top Fathom skimmers feature a long
lasting and durable design. The units are constructed of PVC or cell
cast acrylic, which do not become brittle over time and crack. The
collection cup is constructed of a clear saltwater resistant resin.
- The manufacturer has again improved the
design of the units to produce an even higher quality, more efficient,
and a more user friendly protein skimmer. They have moved the plumbing
to the outside of the skimmer so there is no interference with the air
and water mixing, allowing longer contact time. It also makes the
inside of the skimmer easier to clean if necessary. They have also
replaced the gate valve on the drain of the skimmer with an easier to
adjust slip coupling. This makes the water level much easier to
control and curtails flooding from water level change. In addition,
they have put a larger venturi on the TF200 models, and two venturis
on the larger models to increase the amount of air being injected into
the skimmer.
