Lifegard "heavy wall" bulkheads are constructed of the highest
impact resistant PVC. It eliminates the possibility of finding hidden cracks when filling
the aquarium. Stock colors are "jet black" and "bright blue" to
match acrylic tank backgrounds. Bulkhead fittings are used for attaching
filters, pumps, protein skimmers and other devices to either an acrylic
aquarium or reservoir using standard PVC fittings. To install, drill the
appropriate size hole where you want the bulkhead located and install the
bulkhead with the gasket between the tank and the bulkhead flange.
Hand-tighten only, then one quarter turn to seal.
Threaded Bulkhead Fittings are equipped
with female threads and come with the bulkhead fitting, gasket and nut
(Teflon tape required).
Bulkhead Kits include a bulkhead fitting
with female slip fittings (socket), a slip strainer and a 90 degree slip
by insert fitting for attaching vinyl hose to the bulkhead (PVC cement
required).
