You may have heard that
undergravel filters are obsolete. Nothing could be further from the truth.
They may be old-fashioned, but they work! In our opinion, any freshwater
aquarium equipped only with a hang-on-tank power filter can greatly benefit
from an undergravel filter. Those marine tank hobbyists that can't afford a
wet-dry system can provide greater biological filtration by installing an
undergravel filter. Undergravel filters also provide an easy way to set up a
plenum (Jaubert) reef system.
Nothing promotes a healthy
aquarium environment like the Perfect-a-Flo Undergravel Filter. For fresh or
salt water, Perfecto filters are manufactured with a unique design that
permits uniform flow across the entire tank-no other undergravel filter
performs as well. Perfecto filters are easy to install. A fish
protector on the flow spouts and a raised tube connector to keep gravel from
falling beneath the plate. Requires either an air pump or a powerhead to
operate. We recommend using two Hagen AquaClear
50 Powerheads. This is a dual plate model, each plate measures 24"x18"
(48"x18" total) and will fit a 70, 90 or 110 Gallon aquarium.
