The Solar series controllers were created to offer the hobbyist a way to simulate natural rhythms over the home aquarium. The use of Solar Controllers allows for a more realistic was to monitor and control many of the ever changing parameters of your tank.
The Solar 1000 series of controllers are loaded with features for the discerning aquarist, including the dimming of IceCap ballasts.
Approved by IceCap, the L-2 is the only controller with the following
features:
- Status Screen - This screen sequentially displays the following
information: time, date, weather forecast, dawn, sunrise, noon, sunset and dusk.
- Time & Date - Set the current time and date for local or alternate
time zones.
- Dawn & Dusk - Allows for a gradual increase in the morning to
eliminate the sudden shock of high intensity lighting. It will also reverse this
process at the end of your day.
- Seasonal Changes - Program the Summer and Winter Solstices, and the
length of day. Dawn, dusk, etc. will automatically adjust with the seasons.
- Daily Intensity Variations - Allows the user to recreate the natural
increase and decrease of light intensity as the sun travels through the sky
during the day.
- Storm Center - Randomly creates sunny, partly sunny or mostly cloudy
days. You set the level of storm activity for the month or seasonally. The day's
forecast is displayed on the status screen.
- Lunar Cycle - Features a moonlight port that can be used with a small
incandescent bulb to simulate the phases of the moon. Studies have shown that
many corals spawn in sync with the lunar cycle.
- Second IceCap Port - Allows you to control a second ballast.
- X-10 Control Port - Independently turn on and off up to four items per
day (lights, fans, pumps, etc.). Requires X-10
Control Interface and Satellites.
